Cruiser IS HOME FOREVER

It was my pleasure to accompany Cruiser to his forever home today. As soon has he walked into the backyard, then the house, even meeting his new sister, Annie, it was obvious that he WAS HOME.

Best Wishes to Jim, Cruiser and Annie, his new playmate fur siser.

Monthly Update March 4th, 2008

I can't believe it's been a little over a month now since I arrived here. It feels like forever. I guess in someways that's a good thing, I'm not stuck out in a kennel anymore, but I really want a true forever home. Don't get me wrong, this place is great, but I know it's not home. The girls have been fine playing with me, and I have a warm bed to sleep in or even a lap to lay on, but we all know it's just not the same as a place to call your own.

I am content to sit outside and scope out the yard. I love to run the yard when geese fly over and bark at them to let them know I'm watching them. I have a really good appetite for my meals, I clean by bowl spotless. In the house I like my stuffies and will sleep with them.I take naps when the girls do and that's pretty often in this cold weather.

Well, that's it for now. Nothing really exciting to talk about, but hopefully it's given you an insight as to what a sweet boy I can be in your house too.

Talk to you later,
Cruiser

Don't you think it's a becoming smile? Pretty silly huh.
I like to sleep with my toys.

I have a lot of fun with stuffies and balls.

Making Myself Comfy

Cruiser can sleep any where, but not necessarily comfortable. In this picture, he decided since I wasn't nearby, he needed something of mine to comfort him by.

He can't be comfortable, can he?

When you go out and come back a while later, it seems that setters have to greet you with a stuffy. Here Lady, Ali and Cruiser all had to run and get something to say hi! with.

Cruiser also like to pull on your shirt or cuff to say Welcome home.

Cruiser Feeling at Home

Cruiser has gotten very attached to our home and feeling comfortable with the girls both outside and inside. In this video, Ali and Cruiser play first, then Cruiser decided to really show Sienna what makes his game. Then Ali decided to join in the fun. Needless to say, Sienna's feeling a little out numbered and Cruiser got a little too ruff for her liking.

In this video all four are keeping warm with their winter coats. Cruiser is in the plaid coat with white in it. One thing for sure, Cruiser likes to run around and can entertain himself.

Since it's been so cold outside to really play, the "kids" took it inside.

Playtime with Sienna

Cruiser has come a long way since arriving here. He finally feels like one of the gang. Here he is playing with Sienna, the white and chocolate one, and Ali, the black and white. This is a really big deal, since Sienna is picky as to who gets to play with her. He watches Ali and Sienna play, then decides he wants to play with Sienna too.

Update January 30th, 2008

Hi Everyone. Just thought I'd update what I've been up to these last few days after arriving at my temporary foster home.

First off, I've settled in nicely. It sure feels like home. My foster mom and dad make me feel like one of the family. I sure can get use to this! In fact, I think I am, but I have to remind myself that it's only temporary. I have a dog bed to sleep on and I settle down when the humans do in their room. I haven't been in a crate in this house, but I was before and did fine in it, so it shouldn't be a problem in yours. I was left alone with the girls and we behaved and just slept in the family room until a human came back. When I get excited to see someone, I grab a little piece of their shirt tail, jacket or pant leg, in a gentle way, and wag my whole body. I have my own food bowl to eat from and I've been eating really well and I'm not picky at all.

I go out and come right back in, unless of course their are geese flying by. Right now I'm more comfortable around someone, but not clingy. If you pet my head while I rest it in your lap, I will fall asleep, even standing up! I do respond to this command "Cruiser", but don't know anything else. So I'll need obedience training.

I could be an only dog without a problem or I could have siblings around. I would be happy with either. My people say I'm a sweet loving boy that would make any family a perfect companion. I adjust to new surroundings very quickly and would be quick to call your home mine too.

If you are considering a sweet, gentle, and not to mention, Very handsome mid-aged (5 yrs young) man, then you don't have to look at anyone else. I AM your MAN!!!! Come get me, I'm waiting for you. I'd make the Perfect Valentine present to that special someone in your life.

Thanks for stoping by.
Cruiser

P.S. As I mentioned, I'm in a temporary foster home and will need to go with someone that can keep me until I get adopted. So If you would consider fostering me, that would be cool too.

At Home, Inside A Warm Home

I'm at a new temporary foster home and I can tell you this, I'm comfortable outside or inside in a new surrounding. I'm staying with 4 girls and it's like my own little Hiram! Such male magnetism I have :o)

I know the perfect family is out there somewhere and I'll keep searching until I find them. Can I find you at the end of my journey?

Walking alone in life is no fun at all. I much rather open my eyes and share it with someone special than continue on a blind path leading to no where. Won't you consider joining me on my walk?

WOW! eating inside is such a treat. No more cold feet. I can get use to this! Not to mention, having good friends to share a meal with.

This house has tons of stuffies to play with and I really enjoy them, but not to keen on another dog walking past me when I do. I talk under my breath at them, but the humans still hear me. But that's all I do is talk.

If there is a person for every person, and a family for every house to make it a home, then there must be both for me out there some where. I like what the comforts of home and the caring hearts of humans has to offer. Will you give it to me forever? Please.
It just feels so good to have someone show me Love. I've had the taste of the "Good Life" and I'm NOT wanting to go back to this lifestyle. But I need your help. Please consider letting me be your fur kid. I won't let you down. I Promise.

A gentle, good-natured boy!

Cruiser's owner was forced to sell all his property and turned a lot of his setters over to a shelter in Southern Illinois. IBR is trying to get them into foster care. Cruiser is one of the first ones that was pulled into rescue.

Here's a first report from his temporary foster mom about the first day in foster care: "Cruiser is an amazing guy: Gentle, friendly and very social, surprising-- considering where he came from. He's a bigger setter and weighs in at 55 pounds!! He's big and FLUFFY. His coat is in great condition. I had to lather him up twice and he LOVED his bath!

I let him run loose in the house last night. He had no problems with the other dogs. He was interested in the cat, but not too intense. I'd say he's ok with cats. The whole time he was out of the crate he stood by Tom or I and rested his head on our lap. He didn't run around nervous like his two sisters, then he curled up by our feet. He's excellent in the crate, very quiet, no accidents at all. The crate was clean and dry. "
